Cold Air Intake

Why add a Cold Air Intake (CAI)?

To start with we need to identify what is wrong with the original air intake.

1. The air intake has a tendency to ingest water either through the "Tuba" opening or around the filter box area. When this happens you will get a water soaked air filter and the engine will shut down.

2. The air has to make 6 different changes of direction before it reaches the MAF. The air intake starts out at about 8" in diameter and progressively gets smaller and smaller with each change of direction until it goes through the MAF sensor, which is 3.75" in diameter.

3. The foam cover over the air filter is very restrictive and should be cleaned on a regular basis or be removed and discarded.

4. The air intake system weighs in at a hefty 14 lbs.

5. The filter box must be opened to check or replace the filter and this is done from underneath the coach.

What are the benefits of a CAI?

  • Cooler, denser air for maximum HP/TQ.
  • Air box moved - No more water ingestion.
  • 8 layer cotton gauze filter material.
  • Lifetime reusable filter.
  • The clear cover allows a visual check with out removing any parts.
  • Filter easy to remove, clean and replace.
  • Less air restriction - better air flow.
  • Less weight, only about 3 lbs.

There is one thing you need to be aware of - Noise. The original air intake system is very quiet and the CAI can be quite loud especially at high RPM's.
